Public Radio International (PRI)

Public Radio International (PRI) is a public radio network in the United States. The network acquires, produces, funds, and distributes public radio programming. Individual radio stations and independent producers create the programs for PRI.

PRI serves nearly 900 affiliate stations throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, and Guam. PRI distributes weekly programming in the categories of news and information, comedy and variety, music, and specials and documentaries. A station that purchases programming can be an affiliate of both PRI and National Public Radio (NPR). See National Public Radio (NPR) .

PRI was founded in 1983 as American Public Radio by a group of five public radio stations. It became Public Radio International in 1994. In 2012, PRI was purchased by public media producer WGBH in Boston, Massachusetts. PRI’s headquarters are in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
