Bard College is a private, independent institution of higher learning in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. John Bard, a physician, founded it in 1860 as St. Stephen’s College. In 1934, the college was renamed in Bard’s honor. Well-known graduates of Bard College include actors Chevy Chase and Blythe Danner; ecologist William Vogt; and musician Donald Fagen, founder of the rock group Steely Dan.
