Central Florida, University of

Central Florida, University of, is a public, state-supported institution of higher learning in Orlando, Florida. It is a part of the State University System of Florida. The university was founded as Florida Technological University in 1963. Classes began in 1968. The university adopted its present name in 1978. It operates branch campuses and academic centers in Cocoa, Daytona Beach, Orlando, and elsewhere in central Florida. The university’s athletic teams are called the Golden Knights.
