DePaul University

DePaul University in Chicago is the largest Roman Catholic university in the United States. It was founded by Vincentian Fathers in 1898 as a school for the children of immigrants. The university is named for Saint Vincent de Paul, whose life inspired the school’s mission. This mission includes respect for all people and an effort to instill in students a dedication to the service of others.

The university’s sports teams are nicknamed the Blue Demons. Well-known graduates include Chicago mayors Richard J. Daley and Richard M. Daley, civil rights leader Benjamin L. Hooks, and basketball great George Mikan.
