Georgia State University

Georgia State University is a public, state-supported institution of higher learning in Atlanta, Georgia. The university was founded in 1913 as the Georgia Tech Evening School of Commerce. The school was affiliated with the Georgia Institute of Technology until 1947. That year, the school changed its name to the Atlanta Division of the University of Georgia. It became a separate college in 1955 and adopted its present name in 1969.

The university’s chief branch campus is the North Metro Center in Alpharetta. Georgia State’s athletic teams are called the Panthers.
