Otis College of Art and Design

Otis College of Art and Design is a private, fine arts college in Los Angeles. The school was founded in 1918 as the Otis Art Institute using the mansion of the late Harrison Gray Otis, founder and publisher of the Los Angeles Times. In 1997, the school moved to its current location near Los Angeles International Airport.

Otis stresses the importance of theory and practice in the arts. The campus includes an art gallery, wood and metal shops, fashion fitting rooms, and a lighting studio. Well-known alumni include painter Robert Motherwell and fashion designer Edith Head.
