Pratt Institute

Pratt Institute is a private, independent institution of higher learning in the Brooklyn section of New York City. Established in 1887, it was named after Charles Pratt, the owner of an oil business. The Pratt Institute is a leading school of art and design. It also houses the oldest continuously operating school of library science in the United States.

Well-known graduates of Pratt include theatrical set designer Robert Wilson, actor and director Robert Redford, playwright Harvey Fierstein, sculptor Beverly Pepper, and architect Robert Siegel.
