Scripps College

Scripps College is a private, liberal arts college for women in Claremont, California. Scripps is a member of The Claremont Colleges, also called the Claremont Consortium, an association of five undergraduate schools and two graduate schools. The other schools that make up the consortium are Claremont McKenna College, Harvey Mudd College, Pitzer College, Pomona College, Claremont Graduate School, and Keck Graduate Institute of Applied Life Sciences. Students may take classes and use facilities at any of the schools without additional cost. Scripps was founded in 1926 by Ellen Browning Scripps, a newspaper publisher, educator, and philanthropist.

A Scripps education includes a three-semester core in Interdisciplinary Humanities. Joint-degree programs are available through cooperation with such schools as Stanford University, the University of California at Berkeley, Columbia University, and Washington University. Special facilities at Scripps include an art gallery and a humanities museum and institute.
