Anne, Princess (1950-…), is the only daughter of Elizabeth II, queen of the United Kingdom from 1952 to 2022. She was given the title The Princess Royal in 1987 in recognition of her work for charity. As a member of the royal family, Princess Anne participates in official ceremonies and other public events. She is also an enthusiastic horsewoman, and she competed in show jumping in the 1976 Olympic Games.
Princess Anne has worked with many charitable organizations. From 1970 to 2017, she served as president of the Save the Children Fund UK. She then became the organization’s patron, a role that her mother, Elizabeth, held from 1952 to 2017. Anne Elizabeth Alice Louise was born in London, England, on Aug. 15, 1950. Princess Anne married a British Army officer, Captain Mark Phillips, in 1973. The couple had two children together—Peter, born in 1977, and Zara, born in 1981. The couple separated in 1989, and divorced in 1992. In December 1992, Princess Anne married Commander Timothy Laurence, a naval officer.
