Archibald Memorial Fountain was erected in remembrance of the fact that Australia and France fought together during World War I (1914-1918). It stands in the northern part of Hyde Park in Sydney, Australia. The fountain has a bronze sculpture of the Greek god Apollo surrounded by other mythological figures. François Sicard, a sculptor from Paris, was the designer. The fountain was a gift to the citizens of Sydney under the will of Jules François (J. F.) Archibald, the Australian journalist who founded The Bulletin magazine. Its official unveiling took place in 1932. The city of Sydney maintains the fountain.
