Ascension Day is a Christian holiday that falls on a Thursday, 40 days after Easter. The holiday celebrates Jesus Christ’s being received into heaven in a cloud in the presence of His disciples. The event is described in the Acts of the Apostles (1:6-11). Ascension Day originated during the late 300’s, when it developed in connection with Pentecost, the seventh Sunday after Easter.
