Australian and New Zealand Association for the Advancement of Science (ANZAAS) is a scientific organization that plays an important part in the exchange of scientific information. Its aims are: (1) to promote communication and interaction between scientists in different disciplines; (2) to foster public interest in science and technology, and awareness of their role in everyday life; and (3) to encourage the curiosity of children about the natural and artificial world around them. ANZAAS was founded in 1888 as the Australasian Association for the Advancement of Science. It adopted its present name in 1920. The ANZAAS office is at the University of Adelaide in Adelaide, South Australia.
