Blasket Islands

Blasket Islands are a group of seven small islands about 12 miles (19 kilometers) off the coast of County Kerry, in the Republic of Ireland. Great Blasket, the largest island, is about 4 miles (6.4 kilometers) long and 0.6 mile (1 kilometer) wide. Famous Irish writers born in the Blasket Islands include Tomas O Criomhthain and Maurice O’Sullivan. All the islands have been uninhabited since 1953.
