Blue book is the general name for many government publications in the United Kingdom, including reports of committees and commissions, trade statistics, and diplomatic reports. Blue books differ from white papers in that they are larger and need the protection of covers, which are traditionally dark blue. In other English-speaking countries, the term blue book also refers to any published list of important people, corporations, or other leaders within an industry or area. In college and universities, a blue book is a booklet with a blue paper cover used to write the answers to an examination.
