Carmarthenshire

Carmarthenshire (pop. 187,897) is a unitary authority (local government area) in South Wales, centered on the town of Carmarthen. Much of the area is farmland. Dairy cattle graze the lowland pastures, and sheep feed on the uplands. A milk processing plant produces cheese, canned milk, and other milk products. The district has engineering works and woolen mills. Quarries in the district produce stone for road building. See also Dyfed.
