College of Arms is a body consisting of 13 members who act officially in matters concerning heraldry in England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and the Commonwealth of Nations. They also examine genealogies and record family trees. The college negotiates the granting of new armorial bearings to individuals and corporations and confirms existing coats of arms. It has its headquarters at Heralds’ College, in the City of London. Scottish heraldry is dealt with by the Court of the Lord Lyon in Edinburgh.
