Lake Waikaremoana

Lake Waikaremoana lies in Te Urewera National Park on the North Island of New Zealand. The lake covers an area of 21 square miles (54 square kilometers) and lies about 2,000 feet (610 meters) above sea level. Its water is used to generate electric power in several hydroelectric stations. A hiking trail around the lake is considered one of the most scenic walks in New Zealand.
