Mayhew, Henry (1812-1887), was an English writer and editor. In 1841, with Mark Lemon, he produced the first issue of the humor magazine Punch. Mayhew collaborated with his brother Augustus (1826-1875) on several novels, including The Genius That Turns Everything to Gold (1847) and Whom to Marry (1848). He wrote a survey of the working classes, London Labour and the London Poor (1851-1862). Mayhew was born sometime in 1812 in London. He died on July 25, 1887.
