Moody, Harold (1882-1947), a Jamaican-born physician, was a champion of equal rights, particularly in employment and housing, for people of African origin living in the United Kingdom. In 1931, Moody helped found the League of Coloured Peoples. This organization tried to improve the welfare, education, and finances of people of African origin. Moody was its president from 1931 to 1947.
Harold Arundel Moody was born on Oct. 8, 1882, in Kingston, Jamaica. His father was a pharmacist. In 1904, Moody moved to London to study medicine and later practiced there. He died on April 24, 1947.
