Nithsdale

Nithsdale is a region in the valley of the River Nith in Scotland. The area is mainly agricultural, has some forest areas, and attracts tourists. Some industry exists at Dumfries, Sanquar, and Kirkconnel.

Nithsdale was a local government district in Dumfries and Galloway Region. It was administered from the ancient town of Dumfries. Nithsdale was abolished as a local government district in 1996 and became part of Dumfrieshire.
