Preston

Preston is the administrative center of the county of Lancashire, in England. It lies about 28 miles (45 kilometers) northeast of Liverpool. The city stands at the estuary (mouth) of the River Ribble. Docks line the estuary, which is navigable by ocean-going ships. Industries in the city make cotton and rayon textiles, and textile and electrical machinery. Preston is also the name of the local government district, which includes the city. The local government district has a population of 147,835.
