Walker, Peter

Walker, Peter (1932-2010), a Conservative Party politician in the United Kingdom, served as member of Parliament for Worcester from 1961 to 1992. In 1963 and 1964, he was parliamentary private secretary to the leader of the House of Commons. He was secretary of state for the environment from 1970 to 1972 and for trade and industry from 1972 to 1974. Walker served as minister of agriculture, fisheries, and food from 1979 to 1983, and as secretary of state for energy from 1983 to 1987. He was secretary of state for Wales from 1987 until he left the government in May 1990. He received a life peerage in 1992, becoming Baron Walker of Worcester.

Walker was born in Middlesex on March 25, 1932. He died on June 22, 2010.
