Allies

Allies are people, groups, or nations united for some special purpose, and usually associated with each other through a treaty or agreement. The term Allies (with a capital A) is often used to describe the countries that fought against the Central Powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, and Bulgaria) in World War I (1914-1918) and the countries that fought the Axis (an alliance of Germany, Italy, and Japan) in World War II (1939-1945). The Allies at the start of World War I were France, Russia, and the United Kingdom. In World War II, the major powers that formed the Allies were China, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
