Brady Bunch, The

Brady Bunch, The, was a popular weekly television comedy that ran from 1969 to 1974. The series followed the adventures of a widow with three daughters who married a widower with three sons. The combined family lived in a Los Angeles suburb. The comic episodes dealt with light matters, such as dating and family camping trips.

Robert Reed played father Mike Brady, and Florence Henderson played mother Carol Brady. The three daughters were played by Maureen McCormick (Marcia), Eve Plumb (Jan), and Susan Olsen (Cindy). The three sons were portrayed by Barry Williams (Greg), Christopher Knight (Peter), and Mike Lookinland (Bobby). Additional comedy was provided by Ann B. Davis, who played the Brady’s housekeeper Alice Nelson.

The show was revived in 1977 as a variety show called “The Brady Bunch Hour” and in a more dramatic version in 1990 as “The Bradys.” A spinoff series in 1981 called “The Brady Brides” followed the adventures of two of the daughters, Jan and Marcia, now grown and married. The Brady characters starred in a popular 1988 TV movie called A Very Brady Christmas. An animated TV children’s series called “The Brady Kids” ran from 1972 to 1974. A 1995 feature film, The Brady Bunch Movie, featured a new cast in the Brady family roles. It was followed by A Very Brady Sequel (1996).
