Angelo State University

Angelo State University is a public institution of higher learning in San Angelo, Texas. The city of San Angelo founded the school in 1928 as San Angelo Junior College, a two-year college that was part of the city school system. In the 1930’s, the school became San Angelo College. The institution became a four-year state college called Angelo State College in 1965. It gained university status, and its present name, in 1969. The Graduate School of Angelo State University opened in 1971. In 2007, Angelo State University was moved from the Texas State University System to the Texas Tech University System. The university’s athletic teams are called the Rams.
