Arkansas State University

Arkansas State University is a public institution of higher learning in Jonesboro, Arkansas. The Arkansas General Assembly founded it in 1909 as an agricultural training school. The school began offering a two-year college program in 1918 and a four-year program in 1930. It became Arkansas State College in 1933. It acquired university status and took its present name in 1967.

In addition to the main campus in Jonesboro, the Arkansas State University system has branch campuses in Beebe, Mountain Home, and Newport. The system also has instructional sites at Paragould and at Little Rock Air Force Base. Technical Institutes in the university system are operated in Marked Tree and Searcy. The university’s athletic teams are called the Red Wolves.
