Beloit College

Beloit College is a private, independent institution of higher learning in Beloit, Wisconsin. It is the state’s oldest college. The Friends of Education, a group of seven men from New England, established Beloit College in 1846 with local support. Their goal was to found a men’s liberal arts college in the Midwest in the classical tradition of Yale University. The college began to admit women in 1895.

Facilities at Beloit College include the Logan Museum of Anthropology and the Wright Museum of Art. The college also maintains programs in many countries. Beloit College’s athletic teams are called the Buccaneers.
