Olivet Nazarene University is a private university in Bourbonnais, Illinois. Since 1912, it has been associated with the Church of the Nazarene. The institution began in 1907 with the founding of an elementary school by a Christian community in Georgetown, Illinois. When the founders added a liberal arts college in 1909, the institution became known as Illinois Holiness University. The school lost its original campus to a fire in 1939 and moved to its present location the following year. It adopted its present name in 1986. Olivet Nazarene University is also home to Strickler Planetarium, one of the largest planetariums in Illinois. The university’s men’s athletic teams are called the Tigers, and the women’s teams are the Lady Tigers.
