Our Lady of the Lake University is a private, Roman Catholic university in San Antonio, on the shores of Elmendorf Lake. The institution was founded as Our Lady of the Lake College in 1895. It was established by the Congregation of Divine Providence, which continues to serve as the university’s sponsoring organization. In 1975, the institution changed its name to Our Lady of the Lake University.
The university grants bachelor’s, master’s, and doctor’s degrees. The university’s Weekend College offers certification and degree programs for nontraditional learners, such as working adults. The university’s Weekend College format offers degree programs in the Rio Grande Valley (at Harlingen) and Houston, as well as at the main campus in San Antonio. The university’s athletic teams are called the Saints.
