Central Connecticut State University

Central Connecticut State University is the oldest publicly supported institution of higher education in Connecticut. Founded in 1849 as the New Britain Normal School, it was renamed Teachers College of Connecticut in 1933. Following further growth and development, it became Central Connecticut State College in 1959. The college attained its present name and status in 1983.

The university awards bachelor’s and master’s degrees. With a network of overseas study opportunities, it is one of Connecticut’s leading institutions for international education. The university’s sports teams are called the Blue Devils.
