Columbus State University

Columbus State University is a public, state-supported institution of higher learning in Columbus, Georgia. It was established in 1958 as Columbus College, a junior college. It became a four-year institution in 1965. The college became Columbus State University in 1996. Columbus State athletic teams are called the Cougars.

Columbus State University also operates the Coca-Cola Space Science Center in Columbus, which includes a planetarium, observatory, and learning center. Other facilities include the Carson McCullers Center for Writers and Musicians; the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts, which houses the CSU Schwob Department of Music; and the Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center.
