Concordia University Chicago is a private institution of higher learning in River Forest, Illinois. Concordia is a member institution of The Concordia University System, a nationwide network of colleges and universities of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. The institution was founded in 1864 as Concordia Teachers College in Addison, Illinois. It relocated to River Forest in 1913. Over the years, the college’s curriculum broadened, and in 1979 its name was shortened to Concordia College. In 1990, the college became Concordia University, and in 2006, Concordia University Chicago.
