Converse University

Converse University is a private liberal arts university in Spartanburg, South Carolina. It was founded as Converse College in 1889 by Dexter Edgar Converse and other citizens of Spartanburg. Converse College was originally a women’s college. In 1964, the college introduced graduate programs, which admitted both men and women. In 2021, Converse College changed its name to Converse University and began to admit undergraduate male students.
