Eastern Connecticut State University is a public, state-supported liberal arts university in Willimantic, Connecticut. It was founded in 1889 as Willimantic State Normal School. In 1937, it became Willimantic State Teachers College. The college was renamed Willimantic State College in 1959. The name changed to Eastern Connecticut State College in 1967 and then to Eastern Connecticut State University in 1983. The university’s athletic teams are called the Warriors.
