Eastern New Mexico University is a public, state-supported institution of higher learning in Portales, New Mexico. The institution was established in 1927 and named Eastern New Mexico Junior College in 1934. It became Eastern New Mexico College in 1939 and then Eastern New Mexico University in 1955. In addition to its main campus, the university operates branch campuses in Roswell and Ruidoso, New Mexico. The university’s men’s athletic teams are the Greyhounds, and the women’s teams are the Zias.
