Elizabeth City State University is a public, state-supported institution of higher learning in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. It was founded in 1891 to provide teacher training for African American students. Today, it is a four-year university offering a variety of academic programs to students of all races. The university’s athletic teams are called the Vikings.
