Frostburg State University is a public, state-supported institution of higher learning in Frostburg, Maryland. It was established in 1898 as State Normal School at Frostburg. In 1935, it was renamed State Teachers College at Frostburg. The college’s curriculum broadened over the years, and the institution became Frostburg State College in 1963 and then Frostburg State University in 1987. Frostburg athletic teams are called the Bobcats.
