Guilford College

Guilford, << GIHL furd, >> College is a private liberal arts college in Greensboro, North Carolina. The college was founded in 1837 by the Religious Society of Friends, a community whose members are known as Quakers. Today, Guilford College is nonsectarian, but it is administered according to Quaker principles.

The diverse student body at Guilford College includes a large community of adult learners. All the school’s regular academic programs are open to these students through the Center for Continuing Education. In addition, the center offers several evening-only degree programs for working adults.

Guilford’s sports teams are known as the Quakers. Well-known alumni of Guilford College include M. L. Carr, former player and coach in the National Basketball Association, and Congressman Howard Coble of North Carolina.
