Dominican University is a private, Roman Catholic institution of higher learning in River Forest, Illinois. The Dominican Sisters, a Catholic religious order, established it in 1901 in Sinsinawa, Wisconsin, as a women’s college called Saint Clara’s College. In 1922, the college moved to River Forest and was renamed Rosary College. Rosary College began to admit male students in 1970. In 1997, its name was changed to Dominican University. The university’s athletic teams are called the Stars.
