Monash University

Monash University is an institution of higher education in Victoria, Australia. It is the largest university in the country, and it also has the largest number of international students of any Australian university. The university is named after Sir John Monash, an Australian military commander who served during World War I (1914-1918).

Monash University was established in 1958. Part of the present university was founded in 1922 as Caulfield Technical School. Caulfield Technical School changed its name to the Caulfield Institute of Technology and later became part of the Chisholm Institute of Technology. The Chisholm Institute of Technology merged with Monash University in 1990. The Victorian College of Pharmacy merged with the university in 1992.

Monash University has 9 campuses. Six of these campuses—Berwick, Caulfield, Clayton, Gippsland, Parkville, and Peninsula—are in Australia. The others are in Italy, Malaysia, and South Africa.
