Pritzker Architecture Prize is awarded each year to an outstanding living architect or architect team for lifetime achievement. The award has been called the Nobel Prize of architecture. The winner’s work is required to reflect “consistent and significant contributions to humanity and the built environment through the art of architecture.”
The prize is named for the Pritzker family, American philanthropists who founded the award through the Hyatt Foundation in 1979. A jury of architects, critics, and scholars selects the annual winners. The prize carries a cash award of $100,000.
