Munro-Ferguson, Sir Ronald Craufurd (1860-1934), a Scottish Liberal Party politician, was governor general of Australia from 1914 to 1920.
Munro-Ferguson was born on March 6, 1860, in Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland, and privately educated. After a period of military service with the Grenadier Guards from 1879 to 1884, he won election as a member of Parliament, first for Ross and Cromarty and then for the Leith Burghs. In 1894 and 1895, Munro-Ferguson served as a junior lord of the Treasury. He became a privy councilor in 1910. Munro-Ferguson was created Viscount Novar after his return to the United Kingdom in 1920. He was secretary of state for Scotland from 1922 to 1924. He died on March 30, 1934.
