Seattle Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks are a professional football team that plays in the National Football League (NFL) . The team competes in the West Division of the National Football Conference (NFC). The Seahawks play their home games in Lumen Field in Seattle.

The Seahawks began league play in 1976 as an expansion team. The team played in the National Football Conference for one season before moving to the American Football Conference (AFC). In 2002, the Seahawks returned to the NFC.

The Seahawks had their first winning season in 1978 and made the playoffs for the first time in 1983. The team advanced to Super Bowl XL (played in 2006), but they were defeated by the Pittsburgh Steelers . Pete Carroll , one of the most successful coaches in football history, has led the Seahawks since 2010. In 2014, he coached the Seahawks to victory in Super Bowl XLVIII.

Seattle Seahawks legends have included running back Shaun Alexander (2000-2007), safety Kenny Easley (1981-1987), quarterback Matt Hasselbeck (2001-2010), offensive tackle Walter Jones (1997-2008), defensive tackle Cortez Kennedy (1990-2000), quarterback Dave Krieg (1980-1991), wide receiver Steve Largent (1976-1989), and quarterback Jim Zorn (1976-1984).
