FedEx Corporation is one of the world’s leading providers of shipping and other services for businesses and individuals. The company operates throughout the United States and in more than 200 other countries and territories. FedEx has its headquarters in Memphis, Tennessee.

FedEx Corporation consists of eight independent companies: FedEx Express, FedEx Ground, FedEx Freight, FedEx Office, FedEx Custom Critical, FedEx Trade Networks, FedEx Supply Chain Services, and FedEx Services. FedEx Express provides worldwide express delivery. FedEx Ground delivers small packages by truck in North America. FedEx Freight transports heavy freight. FedEx Office provides photocopying and other document and business services. FedEx Custom Critical handles delivery of time-critical shipments. FedEx Trade Networks provides services that help speed international shipments through customs. Businesses contract with FedEx Supply Chain Services to perform steps in bringing a product or service to market, such as warehousing, managing transportation, and running delivery and returns programs. FedEx Services provides customer support for the other FedEx companies.

The American businessman Frederick W. Smith established Federal Express Corporation in 1971 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Federal Express began U.S. operations in 1973. It was the first company to provide overnight package delivery. In 1984, Federal Express began service outside North America. In 1998, Federal Express was renamed FedEx Corporation.
