Beckham, David (1975-…), an English soccer player, became one of the world’s most famous athletes. He excited fans with his sensational goals and all-around play. Beckham’s celebrity status extended to his personal life. In 1999, he married Victoria Adams, “Posh Spice” in the popular singing group the Spice Girls . Beckham played midfield for Manchester United , the most dominant team in English soccer, from 1995 to 2003. In 2003, he was traded to Real Madrid of Spain. From 2007 to 2012, Beckham played mainly for the LA Galaxy of Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States. The Galaxy loaned him to AC Milan of Italy from January to July 2009 and from January to March 2010. In January 2013, Beckham signed a five-month contract to play for Paris Saint-Germain FC of Ligue 1, the top league in French professional soccer. He retired after completing his stay with Paris Saint-Germain. In 2014, Beckham led a group of investors that established Inter Miami CF , an MLS team that began play in 2020.
