Marker

Marker is an instrument with a soft tip that is used for writing, drawing, and coloring. A marker has its own supply of ink. A capillary reservoir, a cylinder of fibrous synthetic material, holds the ink much as a sponge holds water. The capillary reservoir is typically encased in a plastic barrel with a nib (tip) at one end. The nib is usually made of felt or a feltlike material. It is absorbent, and it draws ink from the reservoir and transfers it to the paper or other writing surface. A marker may have a broad nib or a sharp nib. Some special markers made for artists and designers have a broad nib at one end and a sharp nib at the other. Special ink in markers designed for dry-erase boards can be wiped from such a board easily with an eraser made of synthetic fibers.
