NBCUniversal Media, LLC, formerly NBC Universal, Inc., is a major media and entertainment company in the United States. Its properties include broadcast and cable television networks, television production and distribution companies, TV stations, a motion-picture company, and theme parks. Comcast Corporation owns NBCUniversal Media. NBCUniversal Media has headquarters in New York City.

NBCUniversal Media owns a number of national television networks, including the NBC Television Network and the Oxygen network. The Oxygen network aims much of its programming at women. NBC’s Spanish-language network, Telemundo, airs in the United States and Puerto Rico. In 2008, NBC Universal, with the Mexican media company Grupo Televisa, began televising shows produced by Telemundo throughout Mexico. The company’s NBC Entertainment develops programming for the NBC Television Network. Another division, Universal Television, produces programs for NBC and other television networks. NBCUniversal International Television Distribution delivers syndicated programming and feature films to TV stations in national and international markets. NBCUniversal International Networks owns and operates channels providing programming outside the United States. Universal Pictures creates and distributes motion pictures. Universal Parks and Resorts has whole or part ownership of theme parks in the United States, Japan, and Spain. In addition, NBCUniversal Media offers digital content and owns sites that offer programming via video streaming.

NBC Universal, Inc., was formed in 2004 when NBC, which had been owned by General Electric since 1986, merged with Universal Studios. Universal Studios was founded in 1909 as the Independent Moving Picture Company of America. NBC was founded in 1926 as the National Broadcasting Company, the first permanent radio network in the United States. In 2011, Comcast Corporation purchased a controlling share of NBC Universal from General Electric and NBC Universal changed its name to NBCUniversal Media. Comcast completed its acquisition in 2013. In 2016, NBCUniversal acquired the film studio DreamWorks SKG.
