Change to Win Coalition

Change to Win Coalition is a federation of labor unions with headquarters in Washington, D.C. Its membership consists of national and international labor unions. Change to Win strives to unite working people in a movement for economic, political, and social justice. It promotes the right to collective bargaining; the right to affordable, quality health care; and the right to retirement security. It seeks to ensure that workers are paid and treated fairly, and to expand the educational and economic opportunities available to workers and their families. The federation also works with organizations in other countries to raise living standards and to promote workers’ rights throughout the world.

Change to Win was established in 2005. Its original affiliates were the Laborers International Union of North America (LIUNA), the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), the Teamsters Union, UNITE HERE, the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America (UBC), the United Farm Workers of America (UFW), and the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW). The unions that founded Change to Win formerly belonged to the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) but withdrew from the AFL-CIO because of disagreements over strategy. In 2009, the UBC and UNITE HERE rejoined the AFL-CIO. LIUNA rejoined the group in 2010, and the UFCW did so in 2013.
