Chesney, Kenny

Chesney, Kenny (1968-…), is a popular American country music singer and songwriter. Since the mid-1990’s, Chesney has been one of the most successful recording artists in country music, as well as one of the most popular touring performers. He has won a number of awards for his music.

Kenneth Arnold Chesney was born on March 26, 1968, in Knoxville, Tennessee. He graduated from East Tennessee State University in 1990 with a degree in advertising. He then moved to Nashville, the center of the country music industry, and performed in several Nashville clubs. Chesney released his first album, In My Wildest Dreams, in 1994. His second album, All I Need to Know (1995), began a string of gold and platinum albums that extended into the 2000’s.

Chesney’s many hit songs include “That’s Why I’m Here” (1997); “How Forever Feels” and “You Had Me from Hello” (both 1999); “Young” and “The Good Stuff” (both 2002); “There Goes My Life” (2004); “Living in Fast Forward,” “Summertime,” and “Beer in Mexico” (all 2005); “Never Wanted Nothing More” (2007); and “Better As a Memory” (2008).
