Pattinson, Robert (1986-…), is a British motion-picture actor. He is best known for his portrayal of the teenage vampire Edward Cullen in the “Twilight” series of motion pictures. The films were based on a popular series of young adult novels by the American author Stephenie Meyer. The films include Twilight (2008), New Moon (2009), Eclipse (2010), Breaking Dawn—Part 1 (2011), and Breaking Dawn—Part 2 (2012).
Robert Douglas Thomas Pattinson was born on May 13, 1986, in London. He began acting as a teenager and joined a theater group at his school. His first credited appearance in a motion picture was in the television movie Curse of the Ring (also called Ring of the Nibelungs, 2004). In 2005, Pattinson gained notice as the boy wizard Cedric Diggory in the popular fantasy film Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
Pattinson also starred in the TV movies The Haunted Airman (2006) and The Bad Mother’s Handbook (2007). His other notable films include the comedy/drama How to Be (2008); the drama Little Ashes (2008), in which he portrayed the Spanish artist Salvador Dalí; the romance/dramas Remember Me (2010) and Water for Elephants (2011); the drama Cosmopolis (2012); the drama Bel Ami (2012), based on the 1885 novel by the French author Guy de Maupassant; the dramas Maps to the Stars and The Rover (both 2014); and the biographical drama Queen of the Desert (2015).
